Stone Work

Stone Work That Fits the Design and the Space.

Stone work is one of LKC Sales’ three core services, together with custom millwork and metal work. We manage defined stone packages for commercial and residential interiors, addressing the details that take a specified material from drawings and measurements through specialist fabrication, delivery, and installation.

Stone is not a material that can be planned independently from its surroundings. Dimensions, substrate conditions, visible edges, neighboring finishes, support details, and installation access all influence the final result. LKC contracts directly with its client and engages specialist subcontractors to carry out the work. We organize the agreed scope around the stone as it will be installed, rather than presenting ourselves as a stone quarry or manufacturing shop.

01

Stone Begins With Clear Requirements.

Every stone package needs a defined application and approved project information. The design should establish the intended location, general finish direction, dimensional requirements, relevant transitions, and any necessary technical considerations. The exact material and fabrication details are project-specific; LKC does not assume that all stone types or applications can be delivered through the same method.

We begin by reviewing plans, finish schedules where available, and the relationship between the stone and its supporting or adjacent elements. If measurements, specialist engineering, or material approvals are still needed, these tasks are identified before the fabrication approach is finalized.

02

Commercial Stone Work.

In commercial environments, stone may form part of a highly visible interior or a package that connects with millwork and metal. Retail, restaurant, office, display, and remodeling projects each bring their own design and site demands. A material decision should make sense in the approved setting and within the planned installation requirements.

LKC manages the contracted stone package as part of the project. That involves reviewing the approved requirements, coordinating specialist fabrication, and addressing the delivery and installation needs. We do not claim a particular stone material is appropriate for every application; suitability and required detailing must be evaluated for the actual project.

03

Residential Stone Work.

Residential projects may involve a new interior feature or work being integrated into an existing home. Existing dimensions, access routes, nearby surfaces, and the sequencing of other work can affect the stone package. The desired appearance also needs to be considered alongside the technical requirements of the chosen application.

LKC helps define the scope from available plans and site information and then manages the relevant fabrication and installation resources. When a residential package includes custom millwork or metal work, we review their relationship to the stone so that finishing and installation decisions are considered together.

04

Dimensional and Material Coordination.

Stone often needs careful verification before fabrication because changes after cutting can be difficult or costly. We look at which measurements must be confirmed, when the site will be ready for that verification, and how approved details will be communicated to the fabricator. Material selection, finish approvals, visible joints, and edge requirements may also be part of the design review depending on the project.

We distinguish between information supplied by the client, information established through design, and details to be confirmed by specialists. That allows the fabrication plan to reflect actual requirements rather than assumptions from a reference photograph.

05

Specialist Fabrication and Handling.

LKC uses subcontracted stone specialists for work requiring the appropriate equipment and expertise. We manage the approved specifications and the production questions relevant to the contract, as well as the relationship between fabrication progress and planned site installation. The handling, packaging, delivery, and placement of finished stone are considered as part of the overall work.

The process depends on the selected material and physical characteristics of the components. We avoid making generic promises about lead times or precise production methods before the project’s drawings, stone selection, site constraints, and intended application have been reviewed.

06

Connecting Stone, Millwork and Metal.

Where stone meets custom millwork or fabricated metal, the interface becomes a shared design decision. It may influence dimensions, support, finishes, and the installation order. Each material can be produced by a different specialist, but the completed project still needs them to work together.

LKC’s ability to deliver all three core services allows us to plan these relationships within the contracted package. We define what each trade is responsible for and coordinate technical information at the right stage. That is different from simply placing separate material orders and hoping they align at installation.

07

What to Send With Your Stone Work Request.

Tell us the intended use, type of space, stone application, and current design stage. Share any plans, approximate dimensions, photographs, finish references, or material selections you have. If stone will connect to millwork or metal, describe those relationships and send relevant drawings when available. Let us know whether the work is part of a remodel or a new project.

With that information, we can discuss the scope and identify which measurements, approvals, and production or installation details still need to be established. The initial conversation is about creating a workable path to the finished result.
